Girl Scouts of the USA was chartered by the U.S. Congress on March 16, 1950.

Today, there are nearly four million Girl Scouts - 2.8 million girl members, and 950,000 adult members working primarily as volunteers.

Girls at home and abroad participate in more than 236,000 troops and groups in more than 90 countries through USA Girl Scouts Overseas, and over 300 local Girl Scout councils offer girls the opportunity for membership across the United States.
An International Family
Girl Scouts is part of a global community of 10 million girls in 145 countries through the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).

Girl Scout Council of Middle Mississippi (GSCMM) serves a 24-county region of central and southwestern Mississippi. It is divided into 32 service units.
Chartered:
In 1955, Girl Scouts of the United States of America (GSUSA) combined the Jackson and Vicksburg Girl Scout Councils with lone troops in eleven Mississippi counties in order to develop, manage and maintain Girl Scouts.
